Changed cortical gene expression after a 5G signal

The reported finding

RNA sequencing detected 77 differentially expressed genes in the right sampled cortex and 84 in the left after repeated exposure, using false-discovery-rate correction.

Reading it carefully

Behaviour was not altered. Gene-expression change is a biological response, not demonstrated brain injury. Preprint and journal paper are the same work.

Inside the study

Exposure conditions
5G-modulated 3.5 GHz; one hour/day, five days/week; 27 exposure hours over six weeks for transcriptomics. Whole-brain average SAR 0.19 W/kg.
Design & controls
32 male mice overall; exposed, pseudo-exposed and unrestrained controls. Transcriptomics n=7 exposed and n=8 pseudo-exposed.
Related research & shared cohorts
Distinct French research programme.
The protection question raised
Do the gene-expression changes persist or alter brain function? Behaviour was unchanged. A signal-specific biological response is useful to scientific understanding without establishing injury or measuring population cumulative exposure.
