75–105 GHz: cell death and susceptibility in a cancer-cell comparison
The reported finding
Mortality and senescence increased in H1299 cells; 10 min exposure was followed by complete population death within two days. MCF-10A cells were unaffected under tested conditions.
Reading it carefully
Therapeutic cancer-cell study, not evidence that radar exposure injures normal tissue. Swept source and medium-dependent dosimetry differ from a deployed car radar.
Inside the study
Technology connection
Broad 75–105 GHz cellular sweep overlapping automotive-radar frequencies; not a deployed automotive FMCW waveform or exposure scenario.
Publication type
Original journal research
Exposure conditions
75–105 GHz sweep; 0.2 mW/cm²; H1299 exposures 2, 4 or 10 min; non-tumour comparator tested up to 16 min.
Design & controls
H1299 lung-cancer versus non-tumorigenic MCF-10A epithelial cells; viability, senescence and microscopy over 14 days.
Statistics
See the original results; effect sizes were not independently recalculated.
Related research & shared cohorts
Companion to the same group’s 2020 morphology paper; overlapping programme, not independent replication. Related publication records: WEB-043.
The protection question raised
Which exposure conditions reproduce this finding, and what would establish its relevance beyond the experimental model?
Source verification
Original methods/results and interpretation reviewed; raw data and supplements were not independently audited.
