# WEB-046 — 10 GHz: repeated exposure and stress responses in rat skin

Why this matters
Repeated exposure allows researchers to look beyond an immediate reaction. This rat study found skin stress and inflammatory changes after a month of exposure, together with measurable warming. It extends the microwave skin literature without establishing an effect specific to satellite signals.

Topic: Satellite-adjacent microwave research; Skin injury and inflammation; Oxidative responses

Verification Group: Original abstract reviewed

Record Role: Original abstract reviewed

Featured: False

Exposure: 10 GHz continuous wave, 5.23 or 10.01 mW/cm²; 3 h/day for 30 days.

Design: Rats with sham comparison; thermography, oxidative/inflammatory markers, metabolic enzymes and histology.

Finding: The 10 mW/cm² group showed oxidative, inflammatory and metabolic changes and mild histological alterations; skin temperature rose about 1.8°C. Caspase-3 did not show apoptosis.

Statistics: See the original results; effect sizes were not independently recalculated.

Boundary: Original abstract only. Heating accompanied the findings. 10 GHz is adjacent to, not an exact match for, the 10.7–12.7 GHz satellite downlink range; no network exposure was tested.

Protection Question: Which exposure conditions reproduce this finding, and what would establish its relevance beyond the experimental model?

Access: Original abstract and bibliographic identity reviewed; full methods, dosimetry and statistics not audited.
