# RF-048 — Marine-radar workers and biomarkers: retrieval lead

Why this matters
People working near radar bring a different exposure setting into the evidence. This study's abstract reports more DNA-related and chemical-stress markers in exposed workers. Personal dose histories and other workplace exposures still need examination; these measurements alone do not show that RF caused disease or that limits were exceeded.

Topic: Occupational human genotoxicity

Verification Group: Original abstract verified

Record Role: Original abstract verified

Featured: False

Exposure: Pulsed marine-radar RF at 3,5.5 and 9.4 GHz. Authors measured fields and determined SAR, but numerical personal dose/history not retrieved.

Design: Workers versus unexposed subjects; comet, micronucleus, glutathione and MDA assays. Full sample/confounder/blinding details unverified.

Finding: Original abstract reports higher comet/micronucleus damage and MDA, and lower glutathione in exposed workers.

Boundary: Observational biomarkers do not establish RF causation, disease or exposure-limit compliance. Personal dose, covariates and participant overlap require full audit.

Related: Zagreb Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health programme. Earlier radar micronucleus/conference reports may share participants; independence unverified.

Protection Question: Do the worker biomarkers track RF exposure independently of other workplace factors? Original dose, covariate and participant-overlap checks remain necessary before a causal or clinical protection conclusion.

Access: Original PubMed/publisher abstract and institutional CroRIS publication record reviewed. Retrieval lead.
