# RF-027 — Lund time-course follow-up

Why this matters
The blood-brain barrier normally controls what passes from the bloodstream into brain tissue. This follow-up reported leakage and nerve-cell changes at different times after exposure. It makes the timing of tissue examinations important; the abstract alone cannot show which individual exposure levels drove each result.

Topic: Neuropathology and blood-brain barrier

Verification Group: Original abstract verified

Record Role: Original abstract verified

Featured: False

Exposure: Real programmable 900-MHz GSM phone, TEM cells; 2 h; average whole-body SAR 0.12, 1.2, 12 or 120 mW/kg.

Design: 96 non-anesthetized rats exposed or sham-exposed, examined 14 or 28 days later. Exact allocation, masking and dose-specific estimates require full paper.

Finding: Original abstract: after 14 days, albumin extravasation and neuronal albumin uptake increased (Kruskal-Wallis p=0.02 and 0.002); those findings were not increased after 28 days. Dark neurons increased at 28 days (p=0.02); neuronal albumin uptake correlated with damaged neurons at 28 days (Spearman r=0.41, p<0.01).

Boundary: Original abstract verified; full methods/results not obtained. These are global/time-course findings, not proof that every exposure group differed from sham. Same programme as RF-020; not independent corroboration.

Related: Distinct experiment within Lund programme. Do not combine with 48 rats at 7 days (RF-028).

Protection Question: Could the timing of tissue examination explain different barrier and neuronal findings? The abstract supports a time-course question, but dose-specific results and full methods remain unverified.
