# CTX-004 — Carcinogenicity Study of 217 Hz Pulsed 900 MHz Electromagnetic Fields inPim1Transgenic Mice

Why this matters
An independent attempt did not reproduce the lymphoma increase seen in genetically susceptible mice. This keeps a striking original finding from being presented as a settled susceptibility effect. Differences in dose and restraint need comparison, but they cannot simply be assumed to explain the failure to replicate.

Exposure: 900 MHz, 217-Hz pulsed fields; whole-body SAR 0.5, 1.4 or 4 W/kg; one hour/day for 18 months.

Design: E-mu-Pim1 transgenic mice; 50 males and 50 females/group, with RF groups versus sham and cage controls. Blinded attempted replication of RF-024. Tubes restrained animals, unlike the original free-movement arrangement.

Finding: Blinded attempted RF-024 replication: 50/sex/group, 0.5/1.4/4 W/kg, one hour/day for 18 months; no tumour-site increase. Tubes restrained animals, unlike original free movement.

Boundary: RF-024 should not be described as independently established. Utteridge 2002 also did not confirm; DOI 10.1667/0033-7587(2002)158[0357:LTEOEP]2.0.CO;2.

Protection Question: Is the original lymphoma signal reproducible in the susceptible model? Differences in restraint and exposure remain relevant, but nonconfirming attempts prevent treating the effect as independently established.
